Small is beautiful...

If you give £10 for a specific project, or buy one of our Presents with a Purpose, every penny goes to that project. We don't keep any of it back for administration or other costs. If you give by Gift Aid, the reclaimed tax also goes 100% to the same project.


If you give £10 to OA more generally, 80% of it goes overseas to enable the innovative locally-run projects we support to help the poorest people. The rest goes on things like the production of our magazine, our appeal (fund-raising) materials, and even on the cost of hosting this very website.

How can we afford to do this?

It's one of the advantages of being a very small charity. We have no full-time staff, and no office building. Apart from our half-time administrator, who works from home, everyone is a committed volunteer.
