PROVADENIC, a highly effective development project in Nicaragua, features in our 2004 Annual Appeal. The Appeal Resources Pack is jam-packed with information and inspiring ideas.
JABS: Thirty-two communities in Nicaragua, all classified as in 'Extreme Poverty', now benefit from PROVADENIC's Primary Health Care programme. It is much more than just 'jabs' - vaccinations. If villages served by PROVADENIC the likelihood of your child dying before reaching five is less than a third of what it is in other areas.
JUSTICE: Nicaragua, according to the UN, is Latin America's poorest country. PROVADENIC includes activities like reforestation, family farm projects, water supply and latrines, road building and lobbying the government to give poorer communities access to cheap medicines.
JOY: PROVADENIC was founded in 1967 to be a "Christ-like ministry" reaching out to rural areas, actively linked with the local churches and seeking to bring joy into people's lives.

The pack includes colourful leaflets, a poster, a Resource Book packed with information and ideas, gift envelopes, plus your choice of either OHP transparencies and/or a CD Rom with Powerpoint presentations, and pictures to print. The video has 3 sections: short 3min, longer 10min, and a 5min children's presentation.
Stan Crees, OA's Liaison Officer, visited a number of the communities served by PROVADENIC. He travelled with a local video cameraman, and took many photos. The people preparing the resource pack had difficulty deciding what to leave out!
