OA Support : from January 2004 (currently being funded)Many children in rural Bangladesh do not get the opportunity to go to school, even for the first 3 years of primary education. This project provides pre-primary education for children of poor communities (often "Aboriginals" for whom "Bangla" is not their mother-tongue). The aim is to prepare them to go to Government or private primary schools.Over 1800 children of all faiths are benefitting by attending 64 pre and primary schools in 8 districts, which are maintained by local churches in "food insecure poor areas". The project provides teachers, educational materials for the children, and also promotes basic health care for the parents. This project is run by the Social Health and Development Board of the Bangladesh Baptist Sangha.
